Section 1b: Examiners comments and response

In revising my thesis, I have responded to all comments raised by the Examiners.

Please provide enough details of the change to the thesis to help your faculty and the DGS to confirm that you have effectively accommodated each comment / recommendation.

Avoid rejecting examiner comments/recommendations:

  • Approaching the feedback like reviewer feedback for a journal article submission is advisable – rejecting reviewer feedback often means your article won’t be accepted.

  • Recommendations that you’d like to reject can sometimes be accommodated/agreed with by acknowledging as alternate perspectives or limitations in the research limitations/future research avenues sections at the end of the thesis.

If examiner recommendations contradict one another, please explain how you resolved these differences and why you chose that approach. For example, if one examiner suggests keeping the Results section as it is, while another recommends rewriting it, explain which recommendation you followed (and why) and how you acknowledged or considered the other perspective. This might include partial changes, a summary, or another compromise where appropriate for example. Your supervisor can provide guidance and support if needed.

Below is a AN EXAMPLE ONLY of a table that you could include in a separate table of amendments Word document:
